Visual identification system for correctness of product labelling in production lines

Intended Use of the Application

The application’s intended purpose is to visually verify the correctness of data on the labelling of finished goods.

A specifically programmed industrial camera verifies the data imprinted onto the packaging using laser printers or InkJet type printers. Both the correctness of text placement (e.g. does it fit in the field intended of it) and the contents of the text itself are checked, along with readability.

Errors are reported and archived in a database – both the image and the cause of the error.

Quality assurance department receives a simple application with which the workings of the system may be monitored in real-time.

In case of branding error detection, the system may send information straight to the production line automation system in order to raise alarm, reject product or stop the production line.

The system may work as an independent, autonomous finished goods labelling quality control system based on correctness checking via predefined schemas or be connected to the Client’s IT systems and receive desired label data in real time (possible integration with SAP, JD Edwards or other related systems).

The system is highly scalable. One server application can make use of numerous cameras with different error searching patterns. At the same time many process visualization endpoints may be installed and many reporting applications used for the different departments.
